Canadian Council of Better Business Bureaus Information and Facts


The Better Business Bureau movement started in the United States in 1912 and in Canada in 1935. Today under the Council of Better Business Bureaus Inc. of Arlington, Virginia, there are over 150 bureaus in Canada, The United States and Puerto Rico.

The Canadian Council of Better Business Bureaus (CCBBB), established in June of 1966, is the coordinating and licensing body of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) system in Canada. The BBB system is a public service agency financed by the private business sector with the local Bureaus across Canada serving as the action arm of the BBB system.

In promoting high ethical standards of business practice, the BBB system serves as a vehicle through which the business community manifests its concern for sound consumer relationships and provides a platform for national and local business on matters of business-consumer policy.
